Doug has 34 years of broad experience as a successful lawyer, first as a USAF JAG, then as a Florida trial lawyer, and, since 1978, as a lawyer practicing in Georgia as well as Florida. He has won cases before the US Supreme Court, Florida Supreme Court and many other venues. In 2002, he was elected a State Vice President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and was re-elected in 2006 by his peers. He and his firm are "AV" rated by his fellow lawyers, according to Martindale-Hubbell national rating service for lawyers. Some of the firm's successful case results can be seen on this website.
Doug founded the law firm of Silvis, Ambrose and Lindquist, P.C. In 1983, he declined partnership in what was then the largest firm in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and with his wife, Nancy, and three (3) children moved to Thomasville, Georgia to start his own private practice. Building on a foundation of four years as a Captain and USAF JAG at Eglin AFB, FL and another four years as a Civil Litigation Specialist in Fort Lauderdale, he built and later expanded a thriving practice.
Doug is a perfectionist but is also a "people-person," an excellent litigator, negotiator, problem-solver, and peacemaker. He is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Florida, and in a variety of federal and state courts including the U.S. Supreme Court and in the Supreme Courts of both states. He wrote and became a published author of the lead article in the University of Miami Law Review on comparative negligence and accident law, (a position normally reserved for professors), and has maintained an expertise in the area of Personal Injury law ever since. His broad experience enable Silvis, Ambrose & Lindquist to handle, not only your accident cases, but almost all your legal needs.
